As many of you know, my son Arlo was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  When we discovered he would be born with this condition while in in utero, it set off a lifelong adventure for our family that we are just beginning. The good news is we have received an enormous amount of support from friends and family and have discovered an awesome community of “Heart Families.”  We are thankful for the support and love and well wishes for Arlo.  As I am writing this, he in currently in Ann Arbor where he had a successful third and final heart surgery 8 days ago. He is recovering and will be home soon.

Before he had his surgery we were able to participate in the Funky Heart 5k – a fundraiser put on by the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association of Michigan.  Thanks for all the people who came to support us, donated and volunteered! Thanks to The Deering Team for sponsoring as well! Check out the video for a recap of the day’s events!
