Potawatomi Trail [Video] | Chelsea Michigan

Another great trail you must hit if on the south east side of Michigan. Both Potawatomi and DTE Energy Foundation trail are only 20 minutes apart by car. It would be a shame if you didn’t hit both while in the area.

Potawatomi is an old school trail 16.9 miles long that has a few different access points for parking. The trail is a multi use trail so watch for hikers, horses, and runners. The trail is directional for each use so bikers head towards the opposing traffic so we can see each without surprises.

This is a classic rugged trail prob best for intermediate and above if your going to do the whole loop. I only say not beginner friendly because there are some sections that are pretty rooted out and challenging to climb and some fast downhills that start dropping over logs and roots at high speeds. Full suspension makes this trail very fun! Hard tail is fine just be ready to use all your tech skill picking lines.

While plenty of climb in the 17 miles there is plenty of pay back with fast descents. If you like old school trails with natural drops, roots, punchy climbs, you will love Potawatomi Trail.

MTB projects is the recommended app that works great telling you where you are at during your ride. Trail is well marked plenty of maps at each major intersections.

After your ride at Potawatomi Trail or DTE venture over to Hell Saloon for a beer and food! The buffalo chicken wrap was great! This way you can tell your buddies you went to Hell and back!
