Kayaking the White River, Montague Michigan

Kayaking the White River is great! There are many location you can put in either with a paid service or launch yourself! Happy Mohawk is one of the preferred companies that can help accommodate if you need to rent equipment or need help dropping your own equipment. Many of our trips we have friends drop one vehicle where we plan to get out and do self guided trip. This is a free adventurous way to enjoy the river!

The river itself is fun for all levels of kayak users. Not super wide and boring, but not narrow and with lots of obstacles. I would say beginner to advanced can enjoy this river. We have been in this river at many different times of the year and doesn’t seem to have a time of the year to avoid for conditions.

From Mohawk to White Pine RV park is about a 1 hr float. Kops road to White Pine RV Park is about 2-2:30 hr float. Keep in mind if you aren’t staying at White Pine RV park there may be a fee to pick up there. If you get the chance, camp there! Great campsite with spots from tents, to full RV hookups, to cabins. Staying there and kayaking is a great combination experience!

Hi Mark, wondering if you have yaked the Hesperia to Pines Point stretch of the White recently… want to do a family kayak but would like to make sure the river isn’t too shallow.
