We Made it to Wodapalooza!
Finally made it down to the Wodapalooza! Miami is the place to be in February for Crossfit whether competing or spectating, and I was fortunate enough to compete! The Wodapalooza event which began as a grassroots 1-day fitness competition with 145 athletes and 500 spectators in 2012, has since established itself as the world’s premier Functional Fitness Festival! This is the largest event I have been to so I was super excited to compete under the bright lights! I traveled with a team out of Crossfit Muskegon where we competed in the Intermediate Team Division. We entered doing a qualifier to get seated for the event to compete against 100 other teams. The event runs from Thursday to Sunday with competitors competing in Novice, Intermediate, and Elite categories.
So how’d we do!? Really well! We all had a blast working out on one of the biggest stages where Elite athletes are competing who brought a lot of energy out of us! I won’t go through each event but check out their website www.wodapalooza.com for more on each workout; I will say we had an awesome run at the top of the leader board all weekend! With 3 out of 6 event wins, we had a bunch of momentum on our side. The only workout that we fell short on was one that involved a 300 meter swim in the Bay! Mmh, salt water! Let’s just say myself and the team have a couple new strategies we will likely put into effect for next year! It was such a rush competing placing 3rd was just the cherry on top!
