Sawtell Peak-A Must See While in Yellowstone!
Yellowstone National Park is incredible, but there are so many other things to see surrounding the area as well! Just to the west of Yellowstone is Sawtell Peak, an amazing 10,000 foot climb that anyone can access by ATV or car! There were a number of overlooks on the way with gorgeous views where you could see for miles! We could even make out the Grand Tetons which were about 40 miles away! The road is twisty with a lot of switchbacks, but very wide gravel so maneuvering up is quite easy. Be sure to prepare for the climb up! In the mountains you can go from nice warm temps at ground level to much cooler temps at the top. If you go in July or August, you’ll get to see the amazing amount of wildflowers that bloom too! The Sawtell Peak road is closed between November 1 and June 1 because of snow, so if you want to make this a destination, plan accordingly.
We highly recommend taking time away from the big attractions when at National Parks and exploring different things nearby. You never know, those things may just end up being your favorite! We loved this adventure on Sawtell Peak, and think you will too! Be on the lookout for more information and fun videos surrounding our Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Adventure.
